Since February 16th, 2011 KOLLER Workover & Drilling GmbH (KWD) has its own reporting system for safety relevant observations. According to the motto “KOLLER keeps it’s eyes open” every employee got a note pad to fill out if he recognizes critical situations or conditions, which could lead to accidents. These notes will be forwarded to the responsible HSE manager.

The system had a good start. The first dispatches got turned in already and are being evaluated. To enhance the employee involvement and motivation to turn in safety dispatches, KWD is saving 5.00€ for each dispatch. At the end of the year the complete amount will be raffled between all employees who turned in a safety dispatch

For KWD it is very important that safety comes first and the safety system shall not be associated with something negative so the whole system is on a voluntary basis.

Though as a service company such safety systems are well known from different contractees, KWD decided to create an own system by the end of last year.

Why did KWD management decided to this? On one side it is easier for employees. They do not have to adapt to different systems of each contractee. And on the other side KWD management can give faster reply to their employees for each successful consequence as a result of a safety dispatch.
